Theme: Interactions of living things and their environment
Objectives: By the close of the day, participants will:
  • Use a model to look at a watershed.
  • Investigate Impervious Surfaces.
  • Discuss positive and negative impacts on human choices.
  • Design an experiment.
  • Discuss climate change.
  • Gain a greater understanding of living things and their environment.

  • Permeability Test - each group test samples from around HCC property.
  • Positive and Negative Impacts walking tour of Howard Community College Campus
    • located storm water mgmt pond, rain gardens, rain barrels, stream buffer, streambed redevelopment
    • Flamingo and Elevator speeches - 7 minute "mind dump" of what connections you made and what struck you...turn those thoughts into a "2min elevator speech" or a "Flamingo speech" (only speaking for as long as you can stand on one foot).
